SUMMARY:Conference on open schooling “Lay of the Land”
DESCRIPTION:The conference “Lay of the Land” provides a forum to explore, discuss and share the concept of Open Schooling. Open Schooling is a way of running the school by reflecting on external ideas, topics and challenges by incorporating them into teaching approaches and daily school life. In this way, the creativity and potential of pupils and teachers emerge and they become an asset to the community around them.\nThis free conference aims to open a discussion on “Why Open Schooling”, on the relationship between the concepts of Science Capital and Open Schooling and on the theoretical and practical experience of pilot programs and case studies within the PHERECLOS project.\nThe “Lay of the Land” conference will host speakers who will address stimulating topics and offer practical tools and workshops, thematic discussions and networking opportunities. The program aims to enable participants to rethink their educational approaches, whether they come from formal (e.g., teachers) or nonformal (e.g., Children’s University organizers) settings. You are invited to share your ideas and explore new inputs for your future Open Schooling educational journey.\nThe conference is aimed at teachers and school leaders, researchers interested in science communication, organizers of informal education programs such as Children’s Universities, and generally people who would like to contribute to a culture of Open Schooling.\nThis is the final conference of the PHERECLOS ( https://www.phereclos.eu/ ) project. PHERECLOS is an EU-funded project that creates new partnerships for Pathways to Higher Education and science engagement in REgional CLusters of Open Schooling. This involves stakeholders such as universities, schools, governmental and nongovernmental organizations, companies and/or other knowledge providers. The project started in October 2019 and will finish after this conference in September 2022.\n
